About Outer Banks....

A vacation on the Outer Banks is wonderful! Along with some of the most beautiful beaches in America, you’ll find world class deep sea fishing, windsurfing, hang gliding and fabulous restaurants serving local sea food (usually caught that day).

Until you’ve seen a sunrise over the Atlantic, you just haven’t seen one. The sunsets over the Roanoke Sound are equally as beautiful.

Let me tell you about Roanoke Island. Called the birthplace of America, the first English child born in America was born here, on Roanoke Island, in 1587. The disappearance of The Lost Colony has been searched and research for over 400 years and remains a mystery.

Go see the outdoor drama, The Lost Colony, which begins it’s 70th anniversary this June. As you roam through the National Park you will not only learn about the first settlers, if you’re like most, you will feel and sense of mystique that has fascinated so many in years gone by and continues to do so.

Stroll downtown Manteo and find art galleries, unique shopping and delightful restaurants. Just a short walk over the bridge that overlooks Shallowbag Bay will lead you to Festival Park. There you will travel back in time and explore American’s beginnings. From boat building to shipwrecks, pirates to lighthouse keepers. The day will be filled with memories!

A trip to Roanoke Island would not be complete without a visit to the North Carolina Aquarium. Children of all ages enjoy the fascinating exhibits. From hermit crabs to sharks, the fun is inexplicable!
